On the south bank of the Ottawa River, the Canadian capital Ottawa is a grand symbol of what the country stands for: bilingualism, civic pride and wonderful vistas.
Facing Langevin Block (the prime minister’s office) is the city’s most famous landmark - the Centre Block parliament building. Its tall central tower and circular parliamentary library make a great photograph from Gatineau across the river, which is joined to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Rideau Canal by a series of locks. Skating on the frozen canal is a highlight of the huge Ottawa Winterlude festival.
The city’s history is detailed in Bytown Museum by the locks. Opposite is peaceful Major’s Hill Park, overlooked by Château Laurier, a historic hotel named after a former prime minister. Also named after him is Laurier House, his seat of office. Other important national buildings include the Royal Canadian Mint, Supreme Court, and Rideau Hall, the Queen’s official residence when in the country.
The business district and Ottawa Convention Centre are in Downtown, and nearby shopping options include Rideau Mall and ByWard Market - the oldest farmers’ market in Canada and the area with the best nightlife.
Ottawa accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury hotels with pools, B&Bs with parking and apartments near the train station, all easily accessible from MacDonald-Cartier Airport.

The only difference this year compared to last year was they removed the breakfast buffet to go? I would like to enjoy my breakfast on bed. But this year they gave me a continental breakfast bag which is not very appealing.

Ottawa is a heavy traffic city made difficult to get around...
Ottawa is a heavy traffic city made difficult to get around by construction zones, one way streets, and heavy rain. A hop on hop off bus trip made for a good way of seeing the city in rain. Wonderful architecture, well groomed parks, and a variety of museums and government buildings, provide the visitor with rich experiences.

We were there for the tulip festival on the Victoria weekend. The place was bustling. We went to Parliament buildings and had a great time walking around. Ate at a nice buffet in the Byward Market. Lots of activities around there. Live dj in the street, sales booths, etc... The family members that came with me for the trip thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. We even took time to go to Rue Ste. Catherine in Montreal.

Lots to see and visit.
Lots to see and visit. I was able to walk around easily, I visited the Tulip Festival and there was a shuttle bus that stopped and picked up passengers from different hotels close to me. You paid once for the round trip and could return whenever you wanted which made it very convenient. There are several restaurants close to my hotel so there was no problem finding one to eat at.
The staff really went above and beyond to ensure our stay was great as it could be! We ran into some issues with parking at the hotel because we had a UHAUL with us, but the staff at the reception desk brainstormed a solution that solved the issues right away. We are very grateful for their kindness. Also, the hotel location is terrific because it is right downtown so you are able to really experience Downtown Ottawa at such an affordable price! We walked right to the Parliament Hill. Definitely recommend!
I found the Alt Hotel very cool and stylish. The staff was welcoming and seemed to enjoy working there. When I requested a fridge and a kettle for my room, both were delivered almost immediately. Two of my friends in Ottawa came to meet me at the hotel and were impressed enough with the design of it that they, too, will recommend it to others.
The facilities are well maintained. The cleaners were exceptional. The location downtown near the UOttawa is a very good business decision. The receptionists were very professional and welcoming. The kitchen design was beautiful. No smelly carpets.
Les Suites Hotel was home away from home.
I will recommend it for any family bonding experience.
I had a delightful stay at the Metcalfe Hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the room was cozy with a comfortable bed. Loved the historic yet modern vibe of the hotel, and its proximity to downtown attractions made exploring Ottawa a breeze. Would highly recommend for a comfy and convenient stay!
Food choices for breakfast were very good. Accommodations were very comfortable. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The location was great for us, as we went downtown Ottawa, as well as the far west end.
The room was very clean and had a nice view of downtown Ottawa. I stayed for three days and the cleaning staff was prompt in cleaning the room once. There was also a closet where I could store my clothes in.
The location of the hostel is so convenient that you can quickly and easily get downtown to the most important attractions in Ottawa. The staff was friendly and helpful.
